It’s been a while since Mike Judge has graced the big screen with his writing and directing with Idiocracy being his last flick. I never caught that one on word that it was awful and since it never garnered the same cult following that Office Space did in the years after its release I guess I didn’t miss much.
Extract, however, looks absolutely fantastic with a killer cast that includes Jason Bateman, J.K. Simmons, Kristen Wiig, Mila Kunis and Ben Affleck (sporting a wicked awesome beard). Check out the trailer below.
Living in South Jersey makes the trip to 69th Street in Upper Darby, PA an interesting one. Even more so when you have to stop by 3rd street in South Philly to pick up a friend. Despite leaving our house at 6:45 and stopping at an ATM we didn’t get to the Tower until a little after 8:00, somehow completely missing Ra Ra Riot despite the ticket saying the show started at 8:00. Though I’m not terribly familiar with them I understand their live show is pretty decent but I wasn’t terribly sad that we missed them.
After checking out the merch table, picking up the new The Open Door EP, a shirt for my wife and Plans on Vinyl (only $20! A steal compared to eBay) we hung out for a bit at the balcony-level bar while The Cold War Kids started their set. They sounded good enough from where we were but looking at the closed-circuit monitor the stage looked oddly cramped and dark. Once we finished our beers we ventured to our upper balcony, row P seats to check out the rest of The Cold War Kids and wait for Death Cab to come on. Keep reading →
The above image was posted on Facebook today by Dave Matthews Band. I’m assuming that it’s the cover for their new album, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, due out June 2nd.
Check out this video the band posted a couple weeks ago for a “taste of Big Whiskey”:
Looking at the basic stats in the backend of this blog I know there’s a good chance that nobody noticed that I stopped posting almost as soon as I started.
I also feel like I’ve written something like this on almost any blog that I’ve ever tried to keep going.
The basic point to this post is that I have a tendency to be pretty lazy and that’s a bad habit to fall in to when you’re trying to launch a blog.
So starting today I’m going to try and post at least one item a day, but hopefully more. We’ll see how it goes. If you’ve stuck with me or just stopped by I thank you.

To kick off a tradition here that I had started a few months ago back on my old blog I thought I might run a theme from now until Friday with your Daily Dose of YouTube. Over at Bruce Springsteen’s web site they’ve been releasing a series of videos called “Hangin’ Out On E Street” where they interview different musicians about the influence Bruce has had on their music. Mainly they have the same musicians cover one of Bruce’s songs. All this week we’ll be posting one of the covers each day, up to Friday. Below you’ll find my favorite of the covers so far where The Avett Brothers cover “Glory Days”:
Welcome to the first edition of Your Weekend Homework. The idea here is that we offer suggestions for things not to miss over the weekend. Sometimes those things will be brand new, other times there will be something that’s new to us and we can’t resist the urge to share it with everyone. So without further adieu, here’s your inaugural assignments:
Listen:Man Man – “Rabbit Habits” – My wife’s boss emailed me this morning asking if I had ever heard of this band. She heard their song “Top Drawer” on the radio and looked up a pretty cool video from one of their shows to send to me. It was instant infatuation on my part. The next few minutes consisted of me looking up other videos and songs culminating in downloading this album from the Amazon MP3 Store. It’s a little bizarre but a whole lot of cool. You have to listen and see for yourself. Special Bonus: They’re from Philly!
